Little Girls Are Better At Designing Superheroes Than You is a project where superheroes are drawn based on the costumes of young girls.

This submission is Isabel the Archer, drawn by yours truly, Alex Law.

Hey so, sorry to make yet another off-topic post! I don’t plan on crowding Little Girls Are Better At Designing Superheroes Than You with posts about Spark. I’d like to keep this blog the way it’s always been, with photos of girls in totally awesome hero (and villain!) costumes, and artistic renditions of characters wearing those costumes.

That said, just wanted to clarify a few things about Spark. Although Ted and I were totally psyched about all the people asking where to put their money, it’s not a crowdfunded project or a webcomic. So, there is no kickstarter or donation button or anything like that. Ted and I are going the old-fashioned route and pitching it out to book publishers in hopes that one might pick it up! We just wanted to share this 15-page short on tumblr for free because we figured the people who follow this blog would like it. And you did, so yaaay!

However, if you’d like to follow the project, see what we’re doing, and look at little bits of concept art and character descriptions and stuff, then you can check out spark-comic.tumblr, where we will be posting Spark stuff from now on. We might even make a new short comic, who knows!

Thanks for all your love & support~ :D

New superhero comic, Spark!

Hey, everyone! This is the creator of Little Girls Are Better At Designing Superheroes Than You, here with a post I thought you all might like. Writer Ted Anderson and I have made a pitch for a superhero comic!

The comic is about nine-year-old Lucia Marquez-Miller, who loves engineering, and uses her telekinetic powers to build and take things apart with her mind. She calls this power her spark!

As Spark, the world’s youngest superhero, she’s a junior member of a superhero team while also trying to live a normal life. Can Lucia juggle her friends and family while also saving the world from supervillains?

We’re posting a 15-page standalone comic here on tumblr to give readers an idea of what the book would be like.

Prints Available

Just to let you know, if you’re interested I now have some Little Girls Are Better At Designing Superheroes Than You prints available.

Unfortunately, they are limited to images I actually bothered making in high-res (so not much of the early stuff, sorry!!), original heroes (i.e. not copyrighted like from DC/Marvel), and stuff made by myself. If you would like to purchase a print from a contributing artist, you will have to inquire them separately—their names and websites will always be provided in the post description!
